I hope we have political leaders in soon that will shift to have an open ear to listen to the necessary changes within education. Although change may of been tried before it does not mean that we stop trying to implement it! We try, try again!Christina Thttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17417620099305866734noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-673598978629390697.post-70204650684706097332022-03-31T16:22:43.756+11:002022-03-31T16:22:43.756+11:00The latest MoE report here in NZ suggests that the...The latest MoE report here in NZ suggests that they may be moving to the "Contemplation" stage, but a review of their references indicates that they have pre-determined solutions to align with "business as usual".Cathryn Bjarnesenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02385007940987122231noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-673598978629390697.post-35463582868886188472022-03-17T00:31:44.016+11:002022-03-17T00:31:44.016+11:00I don’t think Schools of Ed (Education Departments...I don’t think Schools of Ed (Education Departments at universities and colleges) will change without a disruptive change to their funding and what they choose to do with it.

The model seems very upside down that tax money goes to draw people, and keep people, in Higher Ed, and the central mission of Ed schools to actually train teachers well is ignored. Hopefully, it will also draw the attention of principals, who of course set the climate and have the power to generate the propulsion to launch and maintain the journey. Once governments begin to understand that teachers need a buffer of care to provide them with the stability they need to enact longer-term change, I am hoping short-term contracts and teacher turn-over might one day become a thing of the past.
